Bone Marrow Transplantation

Bone marrow is crucial for blood cell formation, relying on hematopoietic stem cells, which can self-renew and develop into various blood cell types. These stem cells can also be sourced from peripheral blood after growth factor treatment or from umbilical cords.

Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, commonly known as bone marrow transplantation, involves injecting healthy stem cells into a recipient following a short chemotherapy regimen called conditioning. This procedure treats conditions like leukemia, multiple myeloma, aplastic anemia, thalassemia, sickle cell anemia, and certain immune deficiency diseases.

The stem cells are typically collected via a peripheral vein, similar to donating blood or platelets. These transplanted cells produce essential blood components, including platelets, white blood cells, and red blood cells, offering a viable treatment option for various disorders.

Vertebroplasty Surgery

Vertebroplasty is a surgical procedure designed to treat compression fractures of the spine. During this procedure, bone cement is injected into the fractured vertebrae, which hardens over time to stabilize the fracture and support the spine. The primary goal of vertebroplasty is to alleviate pain and discomfort while restoring mobility and allowing patients to resume their daily activities.
