Dr. V. V. Bashi is a highly experienced Director and Senior Consultant in Cardiothoracic Surgery with over 51 years of experience and more than 20,000 successful cardiac operations. He completed his MBBS, MS in General Surgery, and M.Ch in Cardiothoracic Surgery, along with a Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) from MAHER. He specializes in complex aortic aneurysm surgery, coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), valve repair and replacement, adult congenital heart surgery, carotid artery surgery, pulmonary thromboendarterectomy, hybrid cardiovascular procedures, and advanced thoracic vascular surgery. He is recognized as a pioneer of beating-heart coronary artery bypass surgery and arterial grafting in India, with expertise in complex aortic procedures, including aortic root and arch replacements, thoracoabdominal aortic surgery, and redo cardiac surgery. He has also performed India’s first successful Classical Elephant Trunk procedure in 1993 and Frozen Elephant Trunk procedure in 2012.
