Dr. Suraj Bhagat

Dr. Suraj Bhagat is a highly experienced Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist with more than 15 years of distinguished service in the field of digestive and liver diseases. He completed his medical training with MD in Internal Medicine at Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi and further specialized with a DM in Gastroenterology at PGIMER Chandigarh, one of India’s premier gastroenterology training institutes. Additionally, he earned the prestigious MRCP (UK), highlighting his excellence and international recognition in internal medicine and gastroenterology.

Before joining Amrita Hospital, Dr. Bhagat worked for over a decade at the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Department of Medanta – The Medicity, Gurugram, where he gained extensive expertise in complex endoscopic procedures and multidisciplinary GI care. As a therapeutic endoscopist, he performs advanced procedures including therapeutic Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS), Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and third‑space endoscopy.

Dr. Bhagat’s clinical interests span a broad range of digestive and liver disorders, including metabolic liver disease (fatty liver/metabolic syndrome), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), nutritional rehabilitation and lifestyle‑related GI conditions. He is actively involved in teaching, research and continuing medical education with publications in peer‑reviewed journals and contributions to textbooks. His practice also emphasizes lifestyle modification and holistic approaches, including the study of yoga’s effects on chronic intestinal diseases.
