Dr. Shashikant Apte

Dr. Shashikant Apte is a highly esteemed Haematologist with over three decades of experience in diagnosing, managing, and treating diseases related to blood and blood-producing organs. He is currently serving as a Senior Consultant Haematologist at Sahyadri Hospitals and plays a key role in their Bone Marrow Transplant department.

Dr. Apte earned his MBBS and MD in General Medicine from K.E.M Hospital, Mumbai, followed by an FRCPA (Haematology) from the Royal College of Pathologists of Australia. He has been instrumental in pioneering the Bone Marrow Transplant Program in Pune, successfully performing over 800 Bone Marrow Transplants, including more than 100 Allogeneic Transplants.

His significant contributions include performing transplants for Acute Myeloid Leukaemia at Vellore, treating 19 patients with Agranulocytosis, and presenting research at the 34th Annual Conference of the Indian Society of Haematology and Blood Transfusion. He has also conducted vital research on Immune Modulation using T-Cell Monoclonal Antibody for Aplastic Anaemia and Allogenic Peripheral Stem Cell Transplantations under distinguished mentors like Dr. Mammen Chandy at CMC Hospital, Vellore, and Dr. Ken Bradstock at Westmead Hospital, Sydney, Australia.

Dr. Apte is an active member of the executive committee of the Haemophilia Federation of India and the Thrombosis Task Force. His work has been recognized in several national and international medical publications, further emphasizing his dedication to advancing Haematology.
