He completed his MBBS from Thanjavur Medical College, MS in General Surgery from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, and MCh in Surgical Gastroenterology from Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI), Lucknow.
