Further enhancing his expertise, Dr. Rao obtained a Diploma in Laparoscopic Surgery from Louis Pasteur University, France, and earned his FRCS from Edinburgh, UK. His professional journey includes working as a foreign assistant to the pioneering laparoscopic surgeon, Prof. Jacques Perissat, at Maison du Haut Leveque in Bordeaux, France.

With over two decades of clinical and surgical practice, Dr. Rao has been associated with several prominent hospitals across Mumbai. He has received numerous accolades, including the Dr. A. V. Baliga Memorial Prize for his outstanding performance in the MS examinations. In May 2007, Dr. Rao co-pioneered Single Port Laparoscopic Surgery, showcasing his commitment to advancing surgical techniques. As an educator, he serves as a teacher and examiner for the Fellowship in Minimal Access Surgery (FMAS) at MUHS and is also an examiner for the Maharashtra Nursing Council.
