Dr. Prashant Saxena

Dr. Prashant Saxena is a highly experienced pulmonologist and the Head of Pulmonology, Critical Care & Sleep Medicine at Fortis Hospital, Vasant Kunj. With over 26 years of expertise, he specializes in Interventional Pulmonology, Intensive Care, and Sleep Medicine.

Dr. Saxena has received extensive training, including an ICU Fellowship at Westmead and Liverpool Hospitals in Sydney, Australia. He has also pursued advanced training in Interventional Pulmonology from Greece, Thoracoscopy from France, and Pediatric Bronchoscopy from Italy. Additionally, he completed an Executive Management Programme in Health from Virginia University, USA.

His key contributions include the development of infection prevention protocols, which have significantly reduced hospital-acquired infections. He has also pioneered Antibiotic Stewardship Programs to combat antibiotic resistance and reduce preventable infections.

Dr. Saxena introduced the Rapid Response Team concept to minimize unexpected patient complications in hospitals. He is an active academician, serving as a teacher for IDCCM (Indian Diploma in Critical Care) and an Examiner, Teacher & Supervisor for MRCP (UK) at the Royal College of Physicians, United Kingdom.

Beyond clinical practice, he participates in community health programs, CME sessions, workshops, and awareness talks in India and abroad.
