Dr. Mahesh Uparkar

Dr. Mahesh Uparkar is a distinguished ophthalmologist and vitreo-retinal surgeon with more than two decades of expertise in eye care. He completed his MBBS from Seth G. S. Medical College, Mumbai, followed by MS in Ophthalmology from KEM Hospital. He further specialized in Vitreo-Retinal Surgery from the esteemed Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai, and holds prestigious international credentials including MRCOphtH from London and ICO certification from the UK.

Dr. Uparkar is proficient in treating a broad range of retinal disorders such as diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment, and macular diseases. He is also an expert in pediatric retinal surgeries and retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), along with procedures like LASIK, keratoconus management, and cataract surgery. His multilingual abilities (English, Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Bengali) help him connect deeply with patients from diverse backgrounds.

Throughout his career, he has been honored with several accolades, including the LH Hiranandani Gold Medal for Eye & ENT during MBBS, the GT Mazumdar Prize during his MS, and the Swarnalatha Punshi Prize for Best Research Fellowship.
