His early career involved serving as a physician in tribal health units in Madhya Pradesh and later as an internist-intensivist with Indian Railways. He later became in charge of the Department of Nephrology at Dr. Babasaheb Memorial Hospital, a tertiary referral facility for Central Railways in Mumbai.

Since 2003, he has been associated with Jaslok Hospital & Research Centre, Mumbai, where he heads the nephrology and dialysis unit, performing around 60 kidney transplants annually. His expertise includes blood group-incompatible transplants, HIV-positive transplants, swap transplants, highly sensitized patient transplants, and pediatric renal transplants.

Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Bahadur is actively involved in academic and research activities. He has contributed significantly to nephrology literature, with numerous research papers published in esteemed journals like Nephrology, Dialysis and Transplantation (Oxford), Indian Journal of Nephrology, and Saudi Journal of Kidney Diseases and Transplantation. Additionally, he has participated in multiple international drug trials as a principal investigator.

He also leads the DNB Nephrology post-doctoral teaching program at Jaslok Hospital, mentoring future nephrologists and contributing to the development of innovative clinical solutions in kidney disease management.
