One of the top pediatric cardiac surgeons in India, Dr. Krishna Iyer is highly regarded for his clinical proficiency and extensive involvement in providing cardiac care for children in underdeveloped countries. In 1995, Dr. Iyer launched Northern India's first program specifically focused on paediatric cardiac care, a groundbreaking initiative at the Escorts Heart Institute Research Centre (now known as Fortis-Escorts Heart Institute). Under his direction, India and its South East Asian neighbors' standard for pediatric cardiac care has been established for this initiative. More than 10,000 infants, kids, and adults with congenital cardiac conditions have undergone surgeries performed by Dr. Iyer. These procedures have included artery switch operations, double switch operations, TAPVC repairs, Fontan and Fontan-type procedures, corrections for tetralogy of Fallot, DORV, Truncus, etc.
