Dr. Krishna S Iyer is one of India's most distinguished pediatric cardiac surgeons, renowned for his expertise in congenital heart diseases and pediatric cardiac interventions. He has played a pivotal role in developing pediatric cardiac care in India and other developing nations.

After completing his medical training, Dr. Iyer joined the faculty of the Cardiac Surgery Department at AIIMS, New Delhi. He then pursued specialized training in infant cardiac surgery in Australia before establishing neonatal cardiac surgery at AIIMS. In 1995, he founded North India's first dedicated pediatric cardiac program at EHIRC (now Fortis Escorts Heart Institute). Under his leadership, this program became a benchmark for pediatric cardiac care across India and South East Asia.

With a career spanning over three decades, Dr. Iyer has successfully performed more than 14,000 surgeries on children from India and over 15 international countries. He pioneered the first successful two-stage arterial switch and double-switch operations in India. His extensive research contributions include over a hundred publications in national and international medical journals. In addition to his surgical expertise, Dr. Iyer frequently travels across India and internationally to deliver lectures on pediatric cardiac care.
