Dr. Joy Varghese

Dr. Joy Varghese is a leading name in the field of Hepatology and Transplant Hepatology in India, serving as the Director at Gleneagles HealthCity Chennai. He holds a DM in Medical Gastroenterology from Standley Medical College Hospital, Chennai, and a prestigious Fellowship in Liver Transplantation from ESSEN University Hospital, Germany. He also earned a Ph.D. from The Dr. M.G.R. University, Chennai.

Dr. Varghese brings over 15 years of clinical expertise and has spearheaded over 1500 liver transplant procedures, including pediatric transplants. His expertise spans across conditions like liver cirrhosis, hepatitis B and C, pancreatic diseases, and advanced liver interventions. He is widely acknowledged for pioneering work in therapeutic plasma exchange and transplant hepatology.

He is the Course Director for Fellowship programs in Transplant Hepatology and Liver Diseases under The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University. Dr. Varghese is a senior faculty member and an examiner for the National Board Examination (Gastroenterology Specialty).
