Dr. T. S. Balashanmugam is a highly experienced Senior Consultant and Head of Minimally Invasive, Bariatric & GI Surgery at Gleneagles Hospital, Chennai, with over 30 years of medical experience in the diagnosis and surgical management of gastrointestinal conditions. He completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute, Chennai, and his Master of Surgery (MS) in General Surgery from Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore. He also completed a Fellowship in Minimal Access Surgery (FMAS) through the Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India (AMASI). He received advanced laparoscopic surgery training at IRCAD, Strasbourg, France, and robotic surgery training at World Laparoscopy Hospital, New Delhi. He specializes in gastrointestinal surgery, minimally invasive surgery, advanced laparoscopic procedures, bariatric surgery, and robotic surgery. Dr. Balashanmugam has performed more than 2,500 basic and advanced laparoscopic surgeries over the past 20 years. He also serves on the editorial boards of the World Journal of Laparoscopic Surgery and Gastroenterology International and has served as an examiner for medical and surgical programs at various universities.
