Dr. Anil Vaidya

Dr. Anil Vaidya is a distinguished multi-organ transplant surgeon with an extensive background in clinical, translational, and academic medicine. After completing his surgical and urological residency, he pursued an ASTS-accredited fellowship in multi-organ transplantation at the University of Miami. His remarkable career includes 12 years as a Consultant Transplant Surgeon at Oxford University Hospitals, where he was instrumental in developing a pancreatic, intestinal, and multi-visceral transplant program.

Dr. Vaidya played a pivotal role in restarting the intestinal transplant program in the UK, organizing the International Conference for Intestinal Transplantation at Oxford in 2013. He is credited with performing the first composite tissue allograft (CTA) transplant in the UK, specifically vascularized abdominal wall transplantation to support intestinal transplantation. Furthermore, he pioneered the sentinel skin flap with a multi-visceral graft, enhancing graft monitoring and advancing nephron-sparing auto-transplantation for solitary kidney tumors.

His dedication to transplantation and innovation has placed him at the forefront of the field, making significant contributions to the global transplant community.
